Larry Fong, PhD

Dr. Fong is a Alberta registered psychologist (1982), an arbitrator and mediator in a variety of areas. He in addition is an arbitrator for the automobile manufacturers in Canada. Prior to a psychologist he was a school teacher at all grade levels and as well a Supervisor in Family Court (Justice) and Child Protective Services.

He is a member and Past President of the College of Alberta Psychologists and Psychologists Association of Alberta. While acting in those positions he was the representative for the Agreement in Internal Trade (AIT) and ASPPB (United States) which are the regulatory bodies of psychology in North America. He is a Past president of Family Mediation Canada, and the first Canadian President of the Association for Conflict Resolution and the Academy of Family Mediators. He is a Past President of the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts.

His lecture and teaching experience has led him to 15 different countries in a variety of areas and his mediation DVD materials are used worldwide. His book Mediation (2004) is still read and is available in three different languages. His worldwide trainings includes members of the Judiciary including Appellate level and in Canada up to the Supreme Court of Canada. His trainings have included police, Treaty nations, members of the clergy, lawyers and other professionals. He has received the distinguished mediator award from AFMS (Alberta) and ACR (United States).

He has been an expert witness in Provincial Court of Alberta (family and criminal) and the Superior Courts in Alberta, British Columbia. Manitoba and Saskatchewan. While he has been an expert on hundreds of occasions, he is often called upon the Courts to act as a mediator, custody assessor or arbitrator.
